Frequently asked
Can't a guest just show a screenshot of a green screen?
Not convincingly. The welcome screen shows the guest's name, your event, and a live clock counting the seconds, and the host's own app records every arrival as it happens. A screenshot gives itself away.
Do I need my phone at the door?
No. Print your door code and place it in the foyer, or in a few places around the house. Guests scan it and their own phone turns green or red. You can watch arrivals from your phone if you like, but you don't have to.
Do my guests need the app?
Yes. Guests download The Gentry, sign in with the email you invited, and sign your waiver in a minute or two. They only need to do it once per event.
What does the waiver say?
The Gentry includes a standard release for private social gatherings. In it, guests acknowledge the ordinary risks of a party at a private home, take responsibility for their own consumption, commit to a safe ride home, and release the host from claims arising from ordinary negligence. You can read it in full in the app before you invite anyone.
Does a signed waiver mean I can't be held responsible?
No document can promise that. A signed waiver is a meaningful record that each guest understood and accepted the risks, but the law varies by state and doesn't let anyone waive certain kinds of responsibility, such as serving minors or gross negligence. The Gentry is a courtesy and a record, not legal advice or insurance. Speak with an attorney and your insurance agent about your own situation.
What happens if someone isn't on the list?
Their screen turns red with the reason, such as "Not on the guest list" or "Waiver not signed", so you or your staff can handle it gracefully.
